October 9: Indulge in Tempting Flavors this Filipino American History Month

Filipino American History Month is the perfect time to introduce yourself to a less-known Asian food variety! October became the month for Filipino American recognition because the first recorded presence of Filipinos to the U.S. was October 18, 1587. Immigration from the Philippines S. became a constant in U.S. history, especially in the early 1900's. Filipino Americans figured prominently in U.S. history, especially in the labor movement on behalf of farm workers.

Filipino cuisine has not enjoyed the popularity of other Asian food styling, but people are starting to take notice.  Roast pig, grilled meats, and new seafood combinations produce tempting dishes. The visually appealing and palatable results appeal to both Dishfolio food photographers and bloggers alike. Lemongrass, calamansi, and even just salt and pepper bring out the best in these recipes. What a delicious way to commemorate the contributions of Filipino Americans!
