November 26: Experiment with the Sweet Potato this Thanksgiving

Sweet potatoes taste great even without marshmallows! Not all are familiar with the sweet potato, which is native to the warmer regions of North America. Columbus discovered them after landing in the West Indies. Being that the original Thanksgiving occurred further north, it is unlikely that they were served in period.

Sweet potatoes can be mashed, baked, put in a casserole, or candied. They are a very healthy food that will meet 35% of your vitamin A needs-which adds another bonus to their great flavor.  Dishfolio food photographers discovered them in different colors as well, meaning you can enjoy them orange, purple, or white. These are not just tasty side dishes-they present well on the table too. Enjoy them in plenty this Thanksgiving!
