September 15: Celebrate San Gennaro Day with Italian-American Cuisine!

When immigrants from Naples arrived in the United States, specifically in New York City, they brought with them a range of exciting foodstuffs that you can now easily source from your local Italian food shop. The Feast of San Gennaro, held in New York's Little Italy since 1926 to honor Naples' patron saint, San Gennaro, is a fitting occasion to enjoy such delectable produce.

While the Feast of San Gennaro has its roots in Mulberry Street, Little Italy, in more recent times the religious festival has also been celebrated in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New Jersey. At the modern festival, it's not only the processions and live music contributions that are visual spectacles - the traditional Italian zeppole, tiramasu and gelato would catch the eye of any top food photographer, too!

Perhaps it'll come as a surprise that, in addition to the quintessentially Italian food on offer at the Feast of San Gennaro, you can also get your hands on deep fried Oreos!

Our Dishfolio food bloggers join in on the celebration with fantastic Italian-American online food recipes!
