November 10: Celebrate National Heroes Day in Indonesia with Indonesian Cuisine!

National Heroes Day in Indonesia is a day of remembrance that commemorates the Battle of Surabaya. This battle ended in 1945, and involved British and Dutch troops fighting against revolutionaries from Indonesia.

To celebrate the day, there are lots of food styling tips you can get from Dishfolio, as well as some great quick and easy dinner ideas, and Asian food recipes using Indonesian spices. These recipes can help you choose from a huge range of foods found within Indonesian cuisine and culture, which include savory snacks, sweet desserts, vegetables, spices, herbs and much more which combine to create dishes that are entirely different to most western dishes.

For instance, there is Ayam Kalasan, which is fried free-range chicken, Bakwan Makland with is a meatball and noodle dish and Ayam Bakar, which is spiced chicken cooked on charcoal. There are also lots of mixed rice dishes, as well as noodles and noodle soups that include traditional Indonesian vegetables and a range of meats.
