August 6: Carnival Food Festival on International Clown Week!

Many people are unaware that the Carnival is closely associated with the Catholic Church. Traditionally, in the days before the start of the Lenten fast, people would throw huge parties. Everyone in the community would celebrate the impending fast by enjoying huge banquets of rich food and alcohol.

Today, Carnival food is not only associated with the Catholicism. It has been adopted by many different races and religions, and is seen at Carnivals all over the world. For example, in Russia, there is an annual Carnival known as "Cheese Week", where vast amounts of cheese and pancakes are purchased from Carnival food stands.

Did you know that, according to research done here at Dishfolio, some experts suggest that Carnival food may even originate in Ancient Roman times? If you find yourself in the Carnival spirit, there are lots of online food recipes so you can bring the Carnival home.
