Food Blogger Interview: Kimberly Ann of Bake. Love. Give

Kimberly Ann - bakelovegive-fullcircleadv - pictureWe're interviewing food blogging members of Dishfolio to find out what they love about their blog, what's working and what's not, and how they're striving to grow. Today, we're talking to Kimberly Ann of Bake. Love. Give.

Tell us about your food blogging goals: What are they? How are you accomplishing them?

My goal is to continue to connect with and inspire others to spend more time in the kitchen. I initially began blogging to keep in touch with my family after moving away from home. I am constantly touched by the stories that my grandparents have shared with us because one of my posts has sparked a past memory. I love hearing stories of family and food from my readers and make it a point to stop by several blogs a day to encourage these conversations. This is a wonderful community and I love meeting each and every one of you.

Who is your foodie hero (cook, photographer, or taster) and how do they inspire you?

Penny de los Santos is by far my food photography hero. Her CreativeLive session brought the community to tears in the best way possible. She encouraged us to ask ourselves if you're not doing what you love, why not? Thanks to her, I make it a point to spend more time in the kitchen, more time behind the camera, and more time with family. These are KimberlyAnn-bakelovegive-fullcircleadv-foodthe things that I love.

Describe your all-time favorite recipe.

Dutch Babies. They are so simple to make, and have been a Christmas morning staple at my grandparents' house ever since I can remember. I recently branched out and tried the gingerbread version from The Smitten Kitchen cookbook. They were absolutely delicious, but I'm still a traditionalist at heart.

What's the best food photography tip you've learned in the past year?

Use a tripod! Taking the element of shutter speed out of the equation allows for the sharpest and cleanest shots possible. It takes a few extra minutes to set everything up, but the difference in results amazes me every single time.

How many cookbooks do you own and which do you reach for most often?

A few shelves full. My absolute favourite right now is the Smitten Kitchen cookbook. I tend to prefer cookbooks with a wide variety of courses and ingredients. There are so many delicious meals to choose from and the photographs are absolutely stunning. The Texan in me is also loving The Salt Lick Cookbook, It is chocked full of Texas recipes, history and beautiful photographs of the Texas Hill Country.

What would you like to be best known for?

Baking. Loving. Giving. Obviously. :)
