Here are some of the most common questions we get asked. If you don't see an answer to your question here, feel free to contact us and we'd be happy to help.
Can anyone submit a photo?
Yes! As long as you have a blog and you are submitting your own original images, you can submit a photo.
How can I submit a photo?
Just follow these easy steps:
- Create a user profile, including uploading an image of yourself and adding your personal information
- Go to your My dishfolio page and click on the "Submit A Recipe" tab
- Follow the instructions on the page to upload an image
- Click the Save button to submit your image/post
- Track your submissions on your Pending tab
- Wait for the magic to happen when your image gets published
How long does it take for photos to appear on the site?
We want to make sure every photo submitted has an opportunity to be on the front page for as long as possible. So, images typically refresh every 6-12 hours. We try to respond to your submission within 12 hours as well in order to keep the process flowing.
What size of photos should I upload?
To submit the best image possible, we suggest you upload an image of 756 pixels by 756 pixels. Photos smaller than this will look noticeably worse on high resolution devices (such as high-end mobile phones).
We strongly encourage that you crop your photo to be square before submitting, as that way you will have the most control over getting the image to look its best. Images under 250 pixels will not be accepted. For more information on how to crop your photos to the correct size, please check out our handy dandy reference page on Cropping and Composition.
How do I get my post to be a Featured Post?
Submissions featured in the Featured Post section are some of what we feel are the best photos submitted at that particular time. We want to feature images that are beautiful, enticing, unique and interesting. We try to allow Featured Posts as much exposure as possible.
How will I know if my submission gets accepted?
If you would like to receive an email notification of whether your submission is accepted or declined, choose the opt-in to receive email notifications on your profile page.
Otherwise, every submission will immediately appear on your "My dishfolio" page under "Pending." If your submission is declined, it will appear under "Declined."
Can I submit a different image from my post if my first submission was declined?
Yes, as long as the image is from the same post, you may submit it. We may even suggest a different picture in your post for you to submit, if applicable.
Please do not submit multiple images at a time for the same post, as we will only publish your post one time.
What is your submission acceptance criteria?
Unfortunately, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, we try our best to base every decision on the following:
Is the image interesting? Does it make you want to eat it right now?
Is the image appealing? Does the image have good composition and presentation?
Does the photo have good image quality (i.e. lighting, composition, cropping, etc.)
We encourage you to read our Submission Guidelines for more information.
We value your personal information and promise never to sell your personal information or content. Our goal is to showcase great content from talented food bloggers, nothing more.
